Letters to the editor
Thanks for helping the school
Editor, The Guide:
To all those who helped make Fr. Kolbe’s Lenten food fundraiser a success: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!
With helpful hands and happy hearts, we did a great job! I would like to thank you all.
From breaking the eggs, to scrubbing the floors, I could not have asked for a better team effort. I hope you all had fun, and will come back next year.
You know it’s never too soon to recruit other people to help out.
With love, prayer, and advertisement, we can do anything.
With great appreciation and much love,
Mary Miller

Greektown Alliance growing
Editor, The Guide:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people and organizations who have helped create the Greater Greektown Neighborhood Alliance, and make it a vibrant, action-oriented community group dedicated to the improvement of Greektown.
First, I want to thank the residents, business owners and property owners who live and work in Greektown who have volunteered their time and talents to make their neighborhood a better place.
We have had over 125 people in attendance at our first three meetings this year. Among these volunteers we have several dedicated officers and block captains heading up the efforts of the GGNA in their respective areas of the community.
I also want to thank the Acropolis Restaurant, Ikaros Restaurant, and Zorba’s Restaurant for their support, and for allowing our organization to use their space for our monthly meetings. This has been a great help, and is a way for the residents and businesses to work together in the alliance.
Third, we need to recognize the support and assistance of the Southeastern District Police, its command staff, and the Neighborhood Services Unit.
Their attendance at our meetings and attention to public safety issues in Greektown demonstrates their willingness and ability to help our neighborhood. We have also received the support of the Southeastern District Police Community Relations Council, which is greatly appreciated.
The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods, Planning Council, and the leadership of the surrounding Bayview, Brewer’s Hill, and Dundalk communities have all supported us in our new endeavor, and their advice and attendance are also worthy of recognition.
It is our hope that the GGNA continues to grow, to strenghthen the aforementioned ties, and to reach out to other businesses, organizations, the faith community, and our citizens in order to properly serve the daily needs of the Greektown Community.
Many thanks to all who have been involved - we look forward to continued progress and achievement.
