News for Seniors: exercise your mind with new classes

Bingo is on Friday afternoon from 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Cost is $2 for six cards (extra cards available at 3 for 25 cents), 20 plus games of bingo.
New class now forming: “Mind-ercise.” Monday and Friday mornings 10 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Keep your mind in shape as we exercise our memories. This activity is free to members.
Want to lose weight, firm up, have more energy and feel better? The Spring Fitness Contest runs through May 31. Equipment at John Booth includes a treadmill, stationary bicycle and Cardioglide. Prizes will be awarded for the most time logged on the equipment and in Laura’s Easy Cardio and Balance and Wellness Classes. Weighing-in is optional and will not be made public. All exercise must be done at the center in order to be counted for the contest.
April activity dates are as follows:
April 12: Health and Welfare Thursday. Blood Pressure monitoring 10 a.m. Podiatrist: 10:30 a.m.-noon.
April 17: Special vocal performance by The Larks, 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Listen to them rehearse. 11 a.m.-noon. Enjoy listening to The Larks in concert, presented in conjunction with the Eating Together in Baltimore Program. Lunch at noon. Please sign up for Eating Together lunch by April 10.
April 19: Union Memorial Hospital’s presentation on Leg Pain. This is the third in our Series “Lunch and Learn.” Bring your own lunch or sign up by April 12 for Eating Together Lunch.
April 25: International Taste Festival. An old favorite is back again. Enjoy the varied dishes prepared by our members as they show off their ethnic cooking. Cost: one covered dish to serve at least 8-10 people or $5.00 donation. Sign up by April 20.
April 26: High Tea at the Conservatory with the Senior Division of Recreation and Parks. This is a red hat event.

Thursday, April 12: Video exercise at 9:30 a.m.; aerobics at 10:30, lunch at 11:30. The 12:30 p.m. movie is “Blood Diamond,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio—a fisherman, a smuggler, and a syndicate of businessmen match wits over the possession of a priceless diamond.
Friday, April 13: Bingo starts at 1 p.m.
Monday, April 16: Video exercise at 9:30 a.m., cards at 10:30. The Red Hatters will gather at 11 a.m. for a brief meeting then it’s off to lunch at Austin Grill. Eating Together begins at 11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, April 17: Table games starting at 10 a.m., fried chicken served at 11:30 a.m. (register now), computer classes from noon-3 p.m., and yoga classes from 4:45 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday April 18: Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m., and art class begins at noon.
