Neighborhood dump makes life stink
Editor, The Guide:
I have lived in and owned my property on the 3700 block of E. Pratt Street proudly for 39 years. For the last four years, I have lived in perplexity at a situation that I do not know how to handle any longer.
For four years now, I have lived across the street from a dump. Not literally a city dump, but the neighbors and business (Hopkins Federal Bank) have made the corner right across the street from me “the neighborhood dump.”
Now for the last four years, my neighborhood is rat-infested and trash is constantly thrown all around the street and the stench is so bad that I have to leave my windows and doors shut. It is a total eyesore and quite frankly a hazard to our health.
I was told by the city to utilize 311 to report such things. For the last four years, I have reported and called in this problem on a weekly basis. The only thing I have in result of this is pages of years’ worth of reference numbers. No resolution or nothing has been done.
My family and I are seriously considering putting our property up for sale. Why should we who own our property and pay our taxes live like this? A city we respect has no respect for us. What can we do? Any suggestions?
