Memorial Day: Memorial Day is Monday, May 28. There will be no trash or recyclables pickup, and city offices and schools are closed. Parking meters still need to be fed. The offices of the Baltimore Guide will be closed for Memorial Day as well.
African Children’s Choir: The African Children’s Choir will perform Wednesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 306 E. 23rd St. The 21 children in the choir come from Uganda and Rwanda, and are raising money for education, emergency care and relief for 7,000 children in Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, Sudan, Kenya and South Africa. Brew At The Zoo: On Saturday, May 26, 2 p.m.-6 p.m. (rain or shine), enjoy “brew and wine at the zoo.” Sample beer and wine from over 20 local breweries and wineries at the zoo, enjoy live music, meet animals, see vendors and artisans and more. Tickets purchased the day of the event are $20 for Zoo members, $25 for non-members, and $5 for children and designated drivers. Jazz Singers: Artscape hosts the all-male Cab Calloway Vocal Jazz Competition on Saturday, July 21. The first place winners of the Billie Holiday and Cab Calloway Vocal Competition will perform with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at Artscape on Sunday, July 22.
