Outdoor Movies: Come to Federal Hill and bring your lawn chair, picnic blanket or yoga mat, and enjoy the ambience of free outdoor movies projected onto a screen held by the big golden hand at the American Visionary Art Museum, 800 Key Highway. Vacation Bible School: Vacation Bible School is offered from July 23-27, with the theme of “Lift Off! At the Fort: On Saturday, June 30 at 6 p.m., there will be a special evening military tattoo ceremony featuring the United States Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team and Chesapeake Concert Band. Joining them on the field will be the fifes and drums of the Fort McHenry Guard Field Music. The Guard will wear the uniform of the 1814 defenders of Baltimore, will do a cannon drill, musket exercise and a bayonet demonstration. The evening program concludes with the audience folding the Fort’s flag. The evening ceremony is free, and parking is provided on-site. Info: 410-962-4290.
Ironbirds: The Catholic Community of South Baltimore’s Young Adult Ministry has its annual Aberdeen Ironbirds outing on Saturday, June 30. “Mother Goose on the Loose” is offered on Wednesdays, (except July 4 and Aug. 15, 22 and 29), 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The 10 a.m. session is for non-walking children and the 11 a.m. session is for walking children. Parents/caregivers should choose the session that best fits their children’s needs.
Be sure to sign up for Summer Reading Programs for all ages. There are programs for the “read-to-me” set, elementary school and teens and adults as well. Gymnastics/Dance: Mora Crossman Rec Center, 701 S. About Schools: “School Community Conversations” will be held on Wednesday, July 11 at the Southeast Anchor Library, 3601 Eastern Avenue. From 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. come for help filling out free library cards (bring picture I.D.) and learn how to use the library’s computers free. At 6 p.m., a free dinner will be served. From 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m., discuss issues and concerns about schools in the Southeast.
