BARCS Needs… The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, 301 Stockholm Street, is looking for donations of old or new bath mats — the kind that are soft on one side and have non-skid backing on the other. Donations can be brought to the shelter, or if your schedule/location isn’t conducive, just drop them by the Guide office at 526 S. Conkling Street in Highlandtown, between 9 a.m. and 5 .m. Monday through Friday, and we’ll be glad to take them over to BARCS for you.
Help At Christmas: Christmas might be the last thing on anyone’s mind right now, but the Salvation Army is accepting registration for its Holiday Assistance program. The Salvation Army holds walk-in registration for its holiday assistance programs, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays from Sept. 10-28 for low-income city and county residents. Make Prom Possible: The Priceless Gown Project provides free prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who cannot otherwise afford them. Parade and Festival! The Chesapeake Center for Youth Development Changes After School Program holds its 6th annual free to all Curtis Bay-Brooklyn Parade and Wellness Festival on Saturday, Aug. 11. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at 4th and Washburn and goes through Brooklyn, Brooklyn Homes and the Curtis Bay area, ending at Benjamin Franklin Middle School. Old Bike? Got an old bike that isn’t getting use? Want to refurbish one and bring it up to speed? The Velocipede Bike Project takes in old bikes and refurbishes them for new use. Just Faith: Looking for an opportunity to learn more about your faith and build community in our parishes?
