Got books?
Those who are have been sprucing up their homes for fall, and who have found themselves to have a surplus of books, have the opportunity to lose a few volumes over the next week. From now until Oct. 10, the Friends of Canton Library are currently accepting books for their annual used book sale.
Books should be gently used, and may be any sort of fiction or non-fiction, for any age group — but no textbooks, encyclopediae or magazines. Deadline for all books to be received is Wednesday, October 10. All donations should be brought to the Canton branch of the library, 1030 S. Ellwood Avenue.
The book sale itself will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13 in O’Donnell Square, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. In case of rain, it will be held inside the library.

Those who want to drop off donations can do so at the Canton branch on Mondays and Wednesdays from noon-8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon-5:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Canton branch is closed on Friday and Sunday.
Volunteers are needed to help sort and pack books on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m.-noon, and on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.
Volunteers also are needed on the day of the book sale to do set-up and/or break-down. Set-up (which involves setting up tables and moving books outside and placing them) takes place from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. Break-down (packing up books that did not sell and putting them into a vehicle for transport, folding and collapsing tables) will take place from 3 p.m.-5 p.m.
Those who can help with sorting, or on the day of the book sale are asked to contact Mary Jo Lazun at mjlazun@gmail.com. Volunteers may also simply show up to help without making advance contacts.
Information on the sale, or on book drop-off, can be obtained by calling the Canton branch at 410-396-8548. The Friends of the Canton Branch meet monthly. The next meeting is Monday, Oct. 22, 6:30 p.m. at the branch. New Friends are always welcome.
