Book Sale! The Friends of the Canton Library hold their annual book sale on Saturday, May 3, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Southeast Anchor Library, 3601 Eastern Avenue. Volunteers are needed to sort books at the Canton Branch on Wednesday, April 30, 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. On Thursday, May 1, 5 p.m.-6 p.m., help is needed packing the rental truck with books for transport to the sale. Green Week: On Wednesday, April 30, there’s a free Green Week session on “Healthy Green Homes” at at Sojourner-Douglass College,, 200 N. See displays on issues such as asthma, lead paint and non-toxic pest management, and hear experts on various public health topics related to home and the environment. Appropriate for all ages.

The Wire: The Baltimore Museum of Industry, 1415 Key Highway, has an exhibit concerning HBO’s The Wire and other television and movie productions filmed in Baltimore. The exhibit runs from April 30-Dec. 30. On Wednesday, April 30, the BMI offers opening activities. From 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. key members of The Wire’s creative team will discuss filming on location in Baltimore. Fishing Fun: Catch and release Family Fishing Fun nights will be held every Thursday 6 p.m.-8 p.m. in May and June, at the Patterson Park Boat Lake. The next will be held on May 1. The Canton Dog Park public meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Canton Cove Condos Conference Room, 2901 Boston Street, 7 p.m. The next meeting will be on May 13. The dog park is always in need of donations of plastic bags (the kind newspapers or groceries come in) that can be used for clean-up.
