May The Best Cat Win: The Baltimore 500, a race to adopt out 500 homeless cats during the month of May, is on. The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS), Baltimore Humane Society, and the Maryland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MD SPCA) will be conducting the Baltimore 500 promotion, which runs now through May 31. Concert Series: Tony Berry and New Money will play soul, pop and other favorites Thursday, May 27, at Hampstead Hill Academy, Eastern and Linwood avenues. Admission is free. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. rain or shine, and concerts begin at 6 p.m. Donations are welcome. No alcohol, no pets. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Fort McHenry celebrates Memorial Day Monday, may 31, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with a wreath laying and flag demonstration at noon, and observance of the National Moment of Silence at 3 p.m. in the star fort. Free.

Summer Camp: Mora Crossman Rec Center, located in John Ruhrah Elementary/Middle School, 701 S. Rappolla St., is now registering children for Camp Baltimore, a weekday summer program with athletics, arts and crafts, nature, skating, swimming, trips and more. Parents can register kids during center hours (weekdays from 2 p.m.-9 p.m.) until camp is full. Camp runs 7 weeks and is for kids ages 5-12, June 21-Friday, Aug. 6.
