In need this holiday? Know a family having a hard time making ends meet? Free food baskets, toys and books will be distributed once again this year.
The Southeastern District Police Community Relations Council will host its annual Christmas food baskets, toys and books on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Southeastern District Police headquarters, 5710 Eastern Avenue.
To be eligible, families must reside in the Southeastern District. Proof of residence must be shown upon arrival to the station to pick up the items. Note: To receive baskets, families MUST place their name on the list in advance by calling the SE Neighborhood Service Unit at 410-637-8848.
Want to make a donation to those in need this holiday? Donations of toys and books can be dropped off at the offices of The Baltimore Guide between now and Friday, Dec. 12.
Toys and books must be new and unwrapped. Kids eligible are ages infant through 12; therefore, a variety of items is encouraged.
Also being accepted at this time are toys and supplies for homeless animals at the SPCA and BARCS.
The Guide address is 526 S. Conkling Street, and dropoff hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Note that toys are not available at this address; they will be given out by the police.
