Neighborhood Watch SE: Mayhem erupts over chicken dispute

Robbery
N. Streeper Street, 100 block,
April 3, 3:05 p.m. Two men walked into a grocery store, threatened an employee with a handgun and ordered her to give up money. She refused to comply. One of the suspects tried to jump the counter, but the employee began throwing things at them and they fled.
Eastern Avenue, 4000 block, April 3, 12:23 a.m. A woman told police that a man jumped her, punched her and took her purse.
Bank Street, 2000 block, April 2, 1:10 p.m. A man told police that he was working on a house when a gunman approached him and said, “Get on the ground.” The man did so and the gunman took his cell phone and keys from his pocket. He also took the man’s wallet, removed cash, dropped the wallet and then fled.
E. Pratt Street, 1800 block, March 31, 12:31 p.m. A man told police that a suspect, whom he described as being a black male in his late teens and having a short right arm, robbed him of his wallet and $25 cash. The victim told police that the suspect seemed nervous at the time.
Oldham Street, 500 block, March 30, 12:10 a.m. A woman told police that a man, who she described as “skinny” and wearing a black ninja mask, had forced his way into her house after she took out her trash. A second suspect joined him and struck the woman, then dragged her upstairs. Both were screaming profanities and asking, “Where is it?” and saying “Give it to me.” They looked around and found a safe, and one said, “Here it is” to the other. They grabbed it and fled.
Drew Street, 400 block, March 29, 6:20 a.m. A man told police that he was walking home with a bag containing between $2,500 and $3,000 which he had withdrawn from the safe and intended to deposit later in the day. A man hit him with a brick, grabbed the bag containing the cash and a laptop computer and ran away.
Jefferson Street, 3000 block, March 29, 11:53 p.m. Police on patrol saw a group of men attacking and beating a man. They arrested one and learned that the group had also robbed the man of his wallet and cards.
Bank Street, 3500 block, March 28, 8:30 p.m. A man that three suspects had approached him and asked for a dollar. When the man reached into his pockets, they attacked him and pushed him down, grabbed $20 fled. One suspect was later arrested.
Mt. Pleasant Street, 3600 block, March 28, 7:40 p.m. A man told police he was out walking when a man came out of an alley, threatened him with a handgun and said, “Give me all your money.”  The man handed him $58 and the suspect ran away.

Aggravated Assault
Dundalk Avenue, 1000 block,
April 3, 2:08 a.m. A man got into a fight with someone on the parking lot of a bar, and the assailant stabbed him three times, then ran off.
Gough Street, 1900 block, April 1, 2:30 a.m. A woman told police that her boyfriend had punched her in the mouth.  He told police the woman had tried to stab her because she believed he was inside the house with another woman. Both were arrested.
Joplin Street, 300 block, March 30, 10 a.m. Poilice responded to the call of an assault. A woman on the scene told police that her brother had asked to get his cell phone back from the mother, but that the mother was drunk and the man did not like visiting her when she was that drunk. The daughter took the phone back, and the mother became verbally abusive, then tried to strangle the daughter and was arrested.
S. Streeper Street, 900 block, March 30, 11:15 p.m. A man told police that someone had stolen his scooter, and that he had gotten a call from a friend saying that he was holding a suspect who had the scooter. The man went up to the friend’s house and found that the suspect had broken free and fled, leaving behind the scooter. When the man returned with his scooter, another friend told him that someone was trying to break into his house. Yet another confronted the intruder and gestured at him, and the suspect cut his middle finger with a machete, then ran away. Police learned that the victim of the scooter theft may have known the suspect with the machete, and will follow up.
Eastern Avenue, 3700 block, March 29, 12:25 a.m. Two individuals, a  landlord and tenant, argued over a rent deposit, and one struck the other on the head with a brick and ran away. Police will follow up.
S. Highland Avenue, 200 block, March 28, 10:25 a.m. A man and his roommate were arguing over living arrangements, and one grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened to kill the other. He then ran away. Because the suspect does not have a key, he will not be able to enter the premises legally without being let in.
Jefferson Street, 2400 block, March 28, 3:28 a.m. A woman told police that her boyfriend had argued over a piece of chicken and that the boyfriend had punched her in the face, then knifed her. He was arrested without incident.

Larceny
Fait Avenue, 3900 block,
April 4, 10 a.m. Someone peeled the sticker off a car license plate.
Eastern Avenue, 3200 block, April 2, 7:30 a.m. A bar employee left her station to smoke a cigarette and someone removed almost $200 cash from the register.
S. Broadway, 500 block, April 3, 12:03 a.m. A man entered a store, picked up a 16” sex toy, and despite employee objections took it into a dressing room where he made a great deal of noise. He then left the dressing room and began moving toward the exit, stopping to put the box back on the shelf. The employee told the man to pay for the property or she would call the police. He told her, “Go ahead and call them.” She did so and officers arrived. The man told them he could not speak English. One of the officers, who is bilingual, asked the man if he was going to pay for the sex toy, and he replied that he was not. He was arrested and found to have also stolen a red waist cincher, small in size, with the price tag still attached, and had concealed it in the front of his pants.
Eastern Avenue, 6300 block, April 2, 3:15 p.m. A man was arrested for trying to leave a home improvement store with various hand tools in his pants.
S. Decker Avenue, unit block, April 2, 7:25 p.m. A man snatched a woman’s case containing $200 cash and a cell phone.
E. Baltimore Street, 3200 block, April 1, 7:10 p.m. Police noticed a man kneeling over a laptop bag next to a vacant house. Upon seeing the officer, the man screamed, “My cousin is calling me,” and began running. The officer caught and arrested the suspect. The bag was found to contain miscellaneous property which did not belong to the suspect.
S. Milton Avenue, 700 block, April 1, 2 p.m. A man told police that he had tried to sell his car on Craigslist and that a local man had responded and bought the car, but when the man went to cash the check he received, the account was closed. He sent multiple texts, calls and messages, and the buyer told him he would send a certified check, which he did not. The car seller then communicated with the man again, who told him he would return the car. Thus far, he has not done so. After communicating with the police, who tried to contact the man without success, the car seller will now pursue the matter through the court commissioner.
Hartwait Avenue, 6500 block, April 1, 2 p.m. A woman told police that a friend who has access to her home had stolen her laptop. She further told police that there is personal information stored on the computer and that she was afraid her friend would discuss it.
Thames Street, 1700 block, March 31, 6 p.m. A store manager told police that an employee had been taking money, and was able to provide a surveillance camera image that showed this occurring. A total of $767 was taken in the offense.
S. Macon Street, 500 block, March 30, 3 a.m. Two cell phones were stolen from a house. There was no sign of forced entry, so it was suspected that another person in the house had taken the phones.
Folcroft Street, 600 block, March 30, 8:30 a.m. Someone tried to steal pigeon vitamins. The attempt was unsuccessful and the intruder fled.

Burglary
Hudson Street, 2600 block,
April 3, 3 a.m. Someone attempted to break into a house by kicking open a kitchen door.
Elliott Street, 3100 block, April 2, 6 p.m. Someone broke into a house under renovation by moving a piece of wood and entering. Taken were two computers, a camera, GPS, watch, gym bag, mp3 player, $15 cash, alcohol, cologne and several other items.
Orleans Street, 2300 block, April 2, 12:35 a.m. Someone kicked open the door of a house and took an electronic game console and equipment.
Eastern Avenue, 2900 block, April 1, 7 p.m. Someone broke the window of a home and entered. It was not immediately known if anything was taken.
S. Chapel Street, 300 block, March 31, 7 p.m. Someone climbed through a second floor window and took a wallet, watch and cell phone while the owner was out jogging for an hour.
S. Conkling Street, 400 block, March 29, 7:33 p.m. Someone opened the front door of a house and entered. Nothing was immediately observed to have been taken. A man and woman were both arrested on the scene.
Gary Avenue, 6700 block, March 28, 1:30 a.m. Someone forced open the door of a house and took a dirt bike. Suspects were described to the police.
Bicycle thefts
Thames Street, 1700 block,
April 2, 5:15 p.m. The cable lock holding a man’s mountain bike (blue) was cut.
Dockside Circle, 1200 block, April 2, 3 p.m. Someone broke into a garage and took two bicycles.
S. Linwood Avenue, 600 block, March 31, 11 a.m. Someone cut the lock holding a mountain bike mo-ped, and rode off.
S. Broadway, unit block, March 31, 8 a.m. Someone cut a cable lock and stole a Diamondback purple women’s mountain bike.
O’Donnell Street, 4400 block, March 31, 9 p.m. Someone took a bicycle while the owner was using the rest room at a skate park.
Canary Court, 2200 block, March 30, 5:20 p.m. Someone cut the lock and stole a Trek mountain bike (red and black) and a GT mountain bike (blue/black/yellow).
Hudson Street, 3000 block, March 29, 4:30 p.m. A bike was chained in a backyard, but someone used the quick-release front wheel lever to remove the front tire and take the bike away, leaving the wheel chained in the backyard. The bike was a Quest Crestwood, silver black and purple.
Cambridge Street, 2100 block, March 29, 5 p.m. Someone cut a chain and stole a silver Gary Fisher bicycle from a rear yard.
Elliott Street, 3200 block, March 28, 11 p.m. Someone cut a chain and took a green Giant bicycle.
