Larceny

Eastern Avenue, 6300 block, August 14, 9 a.m. A man was arrested for trying to walk out of a home improvement store with saw blades down his pants.

E. Fayette Street, 900 block, August 14, 8:20 a.m. A man left his bag containing ileostomy supplies on the post office floor. When he returned, it was missing.

S. Broadway, 300 block, August 13, 3:30 p.m. An employee of a business told police that a fellow employee had failed to deposit the funds accumulated through two weeks of transactions. The employee was contacted by e-mail with questions about the incident, and replied promising to pay back the funds and saying they had been already used to pay some personal debts.

S. Decker Avenue, 900 block, August 12, 10:15 a.m. Someone took a transmitter valued at $1,800 that had been left on the street by a utility worker.

Eastern Avenue, 6500 block, August 12, 10:45 a.m. A woman was arrested for trying to leave a grocery store without paying after stuffing three tubes of toothpaste, two boxes of Tylenol, a box of Advil and two boxes of Aleve into a large, red purse.

E. Pratt Street, 1900 block, August 12, 9:30 a.m. A food store employee told police that a suspect, described as a white male “missing a few teeth,” had stolen two cherry pies from his store. The employee was able to point the suspect out to police, who arrested him. The suspect became enraged and began yelling that he was hungry and therefore was justified in taking the pies.

S. Broadway, 600 block, August 10, 5:40 p.m. A man tried to leave a linen store without paying for towels, but dropped the property as he tried to run out the door.  Police arrested him as he left the store.

Pulaski Highway, 3400 block, August 11, 12:55 a.m. A disabled woman told police that she set her purse down at a fast-food restaurant while eating, and then fell asleep. While she was sleeping, someone took her cell phone.

Folcroft Street, 300 block, August 10, 11 p.m. Someone stole a mountain bike and 5 pairs of panties from a backyard.

Fleet Street, 1000 block, August 9, 12:20 p.m. A woman was arrested for stealing carrot juice and a tuna sandwich from a grocery store. It was revealed that she had stolen from the store previously and when the manager attempted to stop her, had displayed her middle finger to him.

N. Kenwood Avenue, 500 block, August 9, 8:35 p.m. A man left his cell phone on his front steps. He returned to find it missing

N. Rose Street, unit block, August 9, 9 a.m. A senior citizen let a man who identified himself only as “Damien” into her house to use the bathroom. Later, she realized he had taken her change purse, prescription cards and $30 cash.

S. Ponca Street, 900 block, August 9, 6:26 p.m. A man returned home to find his ex-girlfriend in his house moving her property out, while being helped by members of her family. To avoid a confrontation with those individuals, the man left the area. When he returned, his television and PlayStation had been taken without his permission. When he asked his girlfriend about the location of the property, she told him, “Check the f—-ing pawn shop” and drove away. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

Boston Street, 2500 block, August 8, 6:30 p.m. A woman left her backpack unattended and was upset to find it missing.

Burglary

S. Broadway, 400 block, August 13, 6:30 a.m. Someone entered a paint store through a front window and took 12 pairs of safety glasses.

N. Luzerne Avenue, 200 block, August 13, 12:08 p.m. Someone entered a home through a rear door and took a security system and a television.

S. Exeter Street, 200 block, August 10, 10 a.m. Someone stole a senior citizen’s “Phat Flyer” scooter from a garage.

S. Broadway, 400 block, August 9, 9 a.m. Someone broke into a store through a window and took 36 pairs of socks, cash, 40 bars of soap (Zest and Irish Spring), 25 bars of Olay soap, 25 bars of Dove soap, 72 T-shirts and eight pairs of tennis shoes.

Gough Street, 3500 block, August 9, 5:15 p.m. A man told police that his ex-girlfriend had stolen his Harley-Davidson blanket. He further told them that she called him on his cell phone to tell him she had taken the property, and to laugh about it.

S. Haven Street, 100 block, August 8, 7 p.m. Someone broke into a home through a front door and damaged a pink file cabinet.

Aggravated Assault

E. Pratt Street, 3100 block, August 14, 6:14 p.m. A woman told police that her brother in law had shoved her and tried to stab her She had been at the house to babysit at the time. The man was arrested.

N. Clinton Street, 400 block, August 14, 4:26 a.m. A man called police to report a group of suspects trying to break into his home and attack him. He told police that the men were attacking him because his roommate owed him $187 in rent money and did not want to pay. The two roommates, and the rest of the aggressive group, had been drinking in the back yard prior to the incident, when an argument broke out. The man hit his roommate in the eyebrow with a hammer during the confrontation. The roommate was arrested.

Ballou Court, 200 block, August 12, 9:30 p.m. A teen told police that he and his friends were out walking when a suspect he knew only as “DJ” threw a rock at him.

S. Dallas Court, 200 block, August 12, 8:15 p.m. A man told police that a second man, whom he knew only as “JB,” had yelled out a window, “N-—r, where’s my shirt?” and then came out and attacked him with a police baton.

Fleet Street, 2400 block, August 11, 10:10 p.m. A woman told police that a suspect had hit her in the face with a beer can, breaking her teeth, for reasons unknown to her. Some bystanders appeared surprised this had happened. The assailant walked away.

Robbery

E. Lombard Street, 4000 block, August 14, 11:45 p.m. A teenager told police that she and some friends had been out walking when two suspects threatened them with a handgun and robbed them. The suspects were arrested later,in a stolen car.

E. Baltimore Street, 800 block, August 14, 10:55 p.m. A man told police that he was out walking when a group of teenaged male suspects, one of whom was wearing braids in his hair, attacked him and robbed him.

N. Washington Street, 200 block, August 12, 1:50 a.m. A man told police that two suspects, described as black males (one of whom was described as wearing dark clothes and carrying a handgun, and one of whom had a black T-shirt with Chinese lettering and blue pants) approached him and said, “White boy, I want your sh—.” They robbed him of $30 cash and fled.

Leverton Avenue, 3600 block, August 11, 9:16 p.m. A man told police that two male suspects had threatened him with a knife and robbed him of his wallet.

E. Pratt Street, 2900 block, August 10, 10:45 p.m. A man told police that a group of teenagers had attacked him, saying “Give me the money” and robbed him of his cell phone and $20 cash.

Eastern Avenue, 2200 block, August 10, 3:20 a.m. A man told police that a group of teenagers had knocked him off his bicycle and had taken his wallet and keys. The man sustained orbital and facial fractures and was taken to a nearby hospital.

N. Montford Avenue, 100 block, August 10, 7:40 p.m. A man told police that a boy between age 10-12 had sprayed him with mace and had taken his cell phone.

Eastern Avenue, 3400 block, August 10, 9:30 p.m. A man told police that while he was making a bank deposit, three male suspects approached and demanded money. When he told them he had none, they stabbed him and took his bicycle.

Eastern Avenue, 3100 block, August 9, 1:40 a.m. A man told police that two teenaged boys had attacked him and taken his mp3 player, phone and wallet.

N. Broadway, 300 block, August 8, 12:01 a.m. A teenaged boy told police that a group of approximately 10 teenagers had said, “Give me your phone.” The man said, “Why?” and they snatched his phone and ran away, yelling, “Crips, Crips, Crips.”

N. East Avenue, 200 block, August 8, 11 a.m. A man told police that two men had approached him and asked him if he were interested in buying a necklace. The man said, “No, thank you,” at which time, one of the suspects pulled a gun and said, “Give me the f-—cking money, mother f-—er,” and punched him, then grabbed his cash and cell phone, and fled.

S. Exeter Street, 600 block, August 8, 1:20 p.m. A man entered a drugstore and placed body washes into a bag and tried to run out. He was stopped, but punched a security guard on his way out, and yelled, “You want to get shot over the white man’s things.”
