Neighborhood Watch Southeast: Man shocked while trying to steal high-voltage wire

Robbery
S. Ponca Street, 500 block, June 12, 10:30 p.m. A woman told police that a man had entered her mobile home through an unlocked window, then stayed hidden inside while she had a meal. When she noticed his presence, the man tried to run, but the woman held onto his shirt. The man freed himself, grabbed money from the counter and ran out of the mobile home. The woman was treated for minor injuries.

Fleet Street, 1800 block, June 11, 12:34 a.m. A man told police that he was out riding his moped with his girlfriend when a group of teenagers pushed them off the vehicle and rode away with it.

E. Fayette Street, 1300 block, June 8, 6 p.m. A teenaged boy told police that he and his brother were out walking when two other teens, one of whom he knew by the street name of “D,” implied they had a handgun and demanded money from them. They punched the boys when they refused to give up money, and one suspect said, “Do I have to get my gun out?” The other said, “There are too many people around; let’s wait until later.” The suspects then fled without taking anything.

S. Macon Street, 400 block, June 8, 1:30 a.m. A man told police that he was walking home from a bar when two men pushed him down and took his cell phone and $40 cash.

Aggravated Assault
E. Lombard Street, 4200 block, June 13, 5:50 p.m. A woman told police that her boyfriend dragged her out of his car and injured her. He pulled off her necklace and threw it into the street, tore her shirt and then grabbed her phone. When she threatened to call the police, he threw down the phone and tried to hit the woman with his car as he drove off. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Eastern Avenue, 4800 block, June 12, 2:12 a.m. A woman told police that she and her boyfriend got into an argument with four men. One man got out of the car and pointed a gun at the couple and said, “You want some of this?” The woman called police as the suspects tried to drive the car through the Greek Festival, striking a pedestrian near the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church steps. They wrecked the car near Dundalk Avenue and police arrested two of them.

Esther Place, 3300 block, June 12, 4:30 p.m. Police responded to a report of a commotion in an auto body shop and found that two men had argued and that one had used racial slurs against the other. The argument escalated and one man threatened to run over the other with his car. One punched the other in the face. The other man retaliated by picking up a jack stand and striking the man in the lower body. Both were arrested.

N. Dallas Court, 200 block, June 11, 4:55 a.m. A man told police that a female friend whom he knew only as “Taurice,” was in his bedroom with him listening to music. She suddenly stabbed him three times (in the armpit, chest and neck) for no apparent reason and ran away. The man later admitted that he and the woman had been drinking beer all night but fended off inquiries about the possibility of prostitution with a claim that the suspect is gay.

Ballou Court, 200 block, June 11, 2 a.m. A man told police that three suspects, one of whom he knew only as “Sid,” argued with a fourth man about a telephone charger and stabbed him. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Mason Court, 200 block, June 7, 11:30 p.m. A wheelchair-bound woman told police that her boyfriend (also in a wheelchair) had threatened to shoot her for not cleaning the apartment. He rolled his wheelchair down the hall in an attempt to get his gun. When police arrived, the man was trying to wheel away from the crime scene. They arrested him.

E. Lombard Street, 4300 block, June 6, 2:10 a.m. A man told police that he and his “intimate girlfriend” had been arguing when she suddenly hit him in the face with a glass bottle, causing injury. Officers noticed that both parties smelled strongly of alcohol. The woman was arrested.

S. Ann Street, 300 block, June 6, 3 a.m. A man told police that “a man with bushy hair” had tried to start a fight with him and his friends for no apparent reason, and that the man had pulled a knife and threatened them with it. The suspect was located and arrested.

Fell Street, 900 block, June 5, 8 p.m. A woman told police that her ex-boyfriend had come over to comfort her because she was upset. An argument developed when the ex-boyfriend asked whether the woman was currently dating. In a rage, he threw her cell phone over the balcony, then told the woman he would kill her and then himself. He began choking the woman and punched her. She picked up a glass ball to defend herself and the man fled. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Steelton Avenue, 1100 block, June 13, 3:45 p.m. Someone opened a rear basement door in a house and entered, taking electronic equipment, cash and a bank card.

E. Lombard Street, 3700 block, June 13, 6 a.m. Someone entered a home under rehab by pushing open a side window and took construction tools and a camera.

Elrino Street, 400 block, June 12, 10:41 p.m. Someone broke a window and entered a home and took a TV.

Steelton Avenue, 1200 block, June 12, 6 a.m. Someone kicked in the front door of a house and took nothing.

Savage Street, 600 block, June 8, 8:30 p.m. Someone entered a home through a rear kitchen window and took mp3 players, cash and jewelry.

Patterson Park Avenue, 100 block, June 7, 4:40 p.m. Someone broke the window of a house and entered, ransacking the premises, but nothing appeared to be taken.

S. Bouldin Street, 900 block, June 6, 8:35 p.m. Police responded to a report of a man trying to break into a house. An onlooker described the suspect to police, who detained him. The man turned out to be an ex-boyfriend of the woman who lived in the home. That woman told police that she would not fill out a Domestic Supplement Report against the man because he was on probation and she did not want him to go to jail. He was arrested regardless.

N. Linwood Avenue, 400 block, May 4, 8:10 p.m. Someone broke into a home through a rear door and stole furnishings, appliances, wiring, a bathtub, beds and other property, with a total estimated loss of $35,000.

Larceny
Gary Avenue, 6600 block, June 13, 1:30 a.m. Someone stole two mountain bikes from a rear yard.

Fait Avenue, 3200 block, June 12, 4:05 p.m. A woman told police that she noticed her computer, purse and checks were missing after workers had been in her house.

N. Highland Avenue, 200 block, June 12, 8:40 p.m. A woman told police that a second woman had grabbed $20 from her hand and fled, telling her, “If you follow me, you’re done.” Police arrested her, and were able to return $19 of the money to the owner.

Eastern Avenue, 6300 block, June 11, 11:05 a.m. A man was arrested for trying to leave a home improvement store with a drill and charger down his pants. The same day, at the same store at 4:40 p.m., a second man was arrested for trying to do the same thing with another drill. On June 9, yet another man was arrested at the same store at 2:40 p.m. for trying to leave with knobs, screws and hinges in a shopping cart. On June 8 at 4:15 p.m., a woman was arrested for trying to take a sander from the premises in her cart. The same day at 6:10 p.m., a man was arrested for putting saw blades in his pants.

S. Haven Street, 600 block, June 11, 8:15 p.m. Police were called when a passerby saw a man trying to cut high-voltage copper wire. He received a shock and police were able to arrest him.

S. Potomac Street, 700 block, June 10, 6:45 a.m. Someone took tags from a truck.

Mason Court, 300 block, June 9, 3:30 p.m. Someone took an Independence Card from a woman’s purse while it was in her bedroom.

Orleans Street, 2300 block, June 9, 12:45 p.m. A man told police that he was in an automotive service shop when he put his cell phone down. Another man took it, and the first man was able to get the suspect’s tag number, which he supplied to police. A warrant was obtained for the man’s arrest.

Aliceanna Street, 1900 block, June 8, 10:44 p.m. Someone cut a woman’s freshly-planed flowers and took them away.

E. Lombard Street, 3800 block, June 8, 4:51 p.m. Someone took a bank courier bag from a supermarket, then discarded it after cutting it open.

Thames Street, 1600 block, June 8, 5:55 p.m. A man tried to pick up a pair of shorts from a store and put them into a backpack, but was caught and arrested.

N. Highland Avenue, 200 block, June 8, 1:50 a.m. A man told police that a second man, whom he could identify to police by name, had picked his pocket. The man was located and arrested, and the money returned to the victim.

McElderry Street, 3000 block, June 7, 11:30 p.m. Someone stole plant dividers, a mountain bike and the bike lock.
